Terms & Conditions
Changing rooms
- Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult, and children under 8 must be supervised in the changing rooms.
- Suitable swimwear must be worn.
- Swimmers should shower before entering the pool, and children may need to wear a hat.
- Children over 8 should use gender-appropriate changing rooms, and adults should not enter the opposite sex changing room.
- No talc to be used anywhere on the premises.
Food and drink
- Food and drink are not allowed in the pool area, and glass bottles are often prohibited.
- Water bottles are allowed but the parent/carer needs to keep the water with them in order to keep the distractions within lessons to a minimum.
- Glassware/crockery or sharp objects is not allowed within the pool premises.
- Do not drink alcohol or chew gum.
lessons
- Swimmers should keep noise to a minimum, and wait quietly for their lesson.
- Running is not permitted in the pool building, especially on poolside.
- Shoe coverings need to be worn on poolside, they will be supplied by the pool.
- Please do not arrive late for your lesson as this can unsettle the other children.
- Some physical contact with your child is unavoidable and all staff adhere to the Child Protection guidelines. This will be dealt with in a professional and caring manner.
- Please make sure that your child has eaten 1.5 hours before swimming.
- Customers should aim to arrive no more than 10 minutes before the lesson and leave no more than 15 minutes after the lesson to help improve changing room comfort. There is limited parking and if you arrive earlier than 10 minutes before your lesson then the previous pupils may have not yet left and you may not be able to find a parking space.
- By ensuring that you arrive no more that 10 minutes before your lesson and leaving within 15 minutes of your lesson finishing it assists with smooth parking.
- pool owners reserves the rights to ask anyone to leave the poolside or Swim School at any time if they feel that the behaviour is unreasonable.
- All plasters and hair clips must be removed before swimming in case they cause damage to the pool filters.
- Customers are expected to behave in a civilised manner towards the teacher and other customers/pool owners and you are not allowed to use foul language at any time.
Medical conditions/Health records
- For health and safety reasons, please do not bring your child into the pool for 48 hours after suffering from diarrhoea.
- If you are unsure of your child’s illness please seek doctors’ advice before returning to lessons.
- Please let swim-wise know about any medical conditions on the pupil registration form and notify your teacher of ANY changes in their medical condition or learning disabilities as soon as possible.
Media
- Everybody is asked to sign a disclaimer regarding photos at your first lesson.
- Phone are not allowed to be used on poolside.
Re-booking, Refunds and Cancellations
- Parents must notify the school if they don't want to be re-booked.
- Pool owners may on occasions have to cancel a class due to unforeseen problems; we will then issue you with the lesson cost being taken off next term, if your not returning the refund for that cancelled lesson within 4 weeks of the end of the term.
- If insufficient children are booked into your class, I reserve the right to cancel the class for that course. In that instance you will be offered an alternative slot or given a full refund.
Adverse weather
- I am sorry but we are unable to refund or reschedule lessons that maybe missed due to local adverse weather conditions. If the venue and roads are accessible and the teacher is there, lessons will take place as normal.
Baby Swimming
- All babies and toddlers who are not potty trained need to wear a “swim nappy”, and swimwear on top. Please ensure that all nappies are taken away with you or disposed of in the correct bin.
- Where possible change your baby on the floor to avoid accidents or in the changing rooms.
- Remember supervision of your children is your responsibility and not that of the Teachers.

- There is to be only one adult in the pool at a time with each child, other family members may sit and watch. maximum of 2.
Valuables and Jewellery
- Please leave all valuables and Jewellery at home or in the car, swim-wise nor the pool owners cannot accept any responsibility for any loss or damage of any personal possessions.
- Personal belongings are left at the owner’s risk.
- There are lockers available to use on poolside.
- Please do not leave belongs in the changing rooms.
Teachers
- If a teacher is unwell or cannot attend a session I will endeavour to arrange a cover teacher. I will give as much advanced warning as I can in these situations.
- All the Teachers are fully qualified with and one of our teachers has the rescue Award, all are CRB check and have their own insurance.
- We also have a qualified lifeguard present on poolside at Birchington vale
Liability
Swim-wise does not accept responsibility for any personal injury or fatality, loss or damage to persons or property that may arise directly or indirectly from any child/children’s participation, or loss of property or articles left on the premises. I will not seek to penalise, prosecute or claim compensation from Swim-wise or its Teachers and assistants for any injury, loss or damage.
Swimming Lesson Cancellation Policy.
Our Swimming Pool hire and Swimming teachers time needs to be paid for and swimming lessons are only profitable if we have four children in a class so our aim is to keep every class full. With this in mind, Swim-wise would Ideally prefer customers to see out the term so that children can be awarded certificates and badges for their hard work during the term.
Should you need to end your lessons due to a change in personal circumstances then as long as I i'm able to fill the space immediately then I will issue a 100% refund for the remainder of the lessons.
